Morwenna Banks' screenplay may have a fairly standard structure, but its details are fresh and unusually balanced, cleverly deepening the characters and never letting the movie fall into sentimental sappiness.
Indeed, as the emotions get more intense, the interaction gets edgier and the jokes dirtier. Both Barrymore and Collette shine in their roles.

How special has it been for you to get to play this strong, complex female hero, balanced with equally strong and complex female adversaries? Well, it means that the fights are that much more thrilling and interesting on both sides.
There are some similarities there. It just makes the whole challenge of the fight between them so much more interesting for her.
There are two ways of looking at it. And that was brought to life so brilliantly by Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters. I got the chance to lead my own show, and that meant that I found a new level of responsibility and understanding of what it takes to get something done, of that scale and that production value, over months and months of very hard work.
I got to see how a TV show is made, from every different department. It gave me more respect for the craft, for the industry, and for the work that goes into putting these stories on, and to do it in such a way that it delights audiences. So, I feel very humbled by that. I did feel like this is what I want to do for the rest of my life, luckily.
